Description

All materials within this collection relate to the history of Avila University since its foundation by the Sisters of St. Joseph in 1916. Originally named St. Teresa College, it was founded as a two-year school for women and in 1940 became the College of St. Teresa, a four-year school. It was re-named Avila College in 1963 when we moved to our current campus. In 1969 Avila became co-educational, admitting its first male students. In 2002 Avila College became Avila University.
