I trust the enclosed will provide the Nihil Obstat needed relative to the
COMMON NOVITATE effort underway among the various Congregations of the Sisters
of Saint Joseph. If Sister Barbara feels it is not what is needed, she should feel free to edit
andretumtomeforafreshcopy:_.~-- -~------------- ___ .-After reading your comments about the Governing Board that looms so prominent
in the mind of Bishop Dan Hart ofNorwich, I agree with you totally. The issue is not
joint sponsorship but sole sponsorship by the Diocese of Norwich. Ifl could replay my
conversation with the good Bishop, that is the track I would travel. Hopefully your e-mail
to Greg Secord will clarify the situation. As you know by this time, I mentioned the
Diocesan subsidy provided the Hospice to Bishop Hart and indicated I thought the Sisters
would be willing to continue their contribution that I presumed was the same amount or
more. Oops, again! His point was that if we contribute we should have voice as to how
the money is spent.
The bottom line, I hope is that Norwich is interested. I wouid say that there is
some amazement that the financial supervision has not been more business like, so new
management will undoubtedly mean new ways of doing things.
No doubt I'll see you Saturday.
With my best wishes, I am
Sincerely yours,
.~\l
