Essential Elements & Outcomes

I. Nonviolent Communication & Conflict Management

• A: Understanding what nonviolent and intercultural communication is (e.g. empathetic listening without judgment and in an ethical way, intercultural understanding)
• B: Demonstrating skills to resolve conflicts (e.g. not getting angry, taking a step back)
• C: Practice specific virtues (e.g. douceur, humility, and cordial charity)

II. Critical Engagement with Difference

• A: Open, amplify, and develop our knowledge of differences in diversity
• B: Learn to welcome the other as Other
• C: Develop the art of curiosity in respect and trust (e.g. entering uncharted waters, openness to risk, flexibility, listening, entranhas de misericórdia)

III. Role of Empathy for Understanding and Right Relations Within a Diverse Community

• A: Discover and explore ways that our diversities complements and completes us
• B: Develop capacities for empathy (e.g. critical listening, authentic dialogue, nonviolent confrontation)
• C: Living into the Trinitarian dynamism and growing in right relationship with all creation (i.e. self, others, God, and the earth)
